Memories of kindergarten!

          TULIPS

            "April 23rd, 2000 we will be having a spring assembly with all different performances from each class, be prepared and remember have fun!" our principle loves assembly’s this is why she loved doing the announcement for it. I also love them because it’s a chance to sing and have from with your class mates. My teacher said she would be picking 4 students to do something for the assembly and that she would pick at the end of the day.

            It was finally the end of the day and my teacher pulled a side 4 students, and guess what one of them was me! I was shocked that I would have to stand in front of a lot of people and sing. But when I saw my other 3 friends that where with me and in it I felt more comfortable. We all still didn’t know what we were doing for the assembly and how it would turn out.

             The next day my 3 friends and I had to stay in to practice and my teacher Mrs. Abraham said she had a great idea for the assembly. We all had to be different color flowers and sing a song. I was blue, and my other friends where yellow, pink and purple. Time was passing by fast and there was 4 days left till the assembly. The day finally came when it was the assembly and I was really scared, practicing every second though out the day and I wanted my parents to be proud. “Next up will be the tulips from Mrs. Abraham’s class singing a song on tulips and spring.”

           As I peeked through the curtains of the stage my heart was beating very fast and I saw about 800 people sitting and waiting for our performance. Singing and dancing was what we had to do for our audience. They loved it a lot, because I heard a lot of cheering and people screaming “Woooohhh!” “Yeaahhh!” all of a sudden I started to feel and do better and better. The more cheers the more singing and dancing I did for our audience. Finally it was done “that was an awesome performance, good job girls!” the speaker of the assembly said.

            When I got off the stage I felt like a pro, and I wanted to do it again! My teacher walked up to my friends and me and told us we did a really good job and that we have to come for the night performance. Apparently, I did have to come in the evening to do my performance again for all the other parents. It wasn’t so bad after all; I would so do that again if I had to. I had a really great time and I will never forget it because it was my first performance in my life.

In the Begining!

 

WOODBRIDGE COLLEGE

  In the beginning of high school I didn’t know what I was going to do. I didn’t know where anything was, how hard it would be, who my teachers where, making new friends, it’s like what all teenagers think when they first get to high school.

             The first day of high school was all grade nines which made me feel a bit more comfortable. I met some of my old friends from Blue Willow and I also met new ones as well. In my opinion I think Woodbridge College is actually friendly and everyone wants to get to know each other. in the assembly it was the first one we had in high school and it kept on saying "get involved." even though people in my school and me did get involved we actually did in high school all the sports, year book, student council and Deca. I think the assembly really helped people get motivated, because I know I did. I started joining teams and other activities in the school.

            The teachers in Woodbridge college where really nice and helpful. They would explain what is going on and what where doing in certain subjects. Later on in high school I learned about 'true colors' and while I did the survey I was certain I would be orange meaning freedom and excitement, that I like being spontaneous and full of adventure and that I’m competitive and I was. I was surprised that the survey got my right color.

            This year I really wanted to try out for basketball. However, I didn’t know when the tryouts where because I didn’t hear the announcement. Then I decided to go for volleyball and try out for that team, the tryouts where Thursday, November 4^th, 2010 after school. I think I did well but I need to do better so the tryouts on Tuesday November 9^th, 2010 after school.

 

            Everyone adolescence think that high school is hard, however when you actually come to high school it turns out to be a pretty good place. There is a Cafeteria, you can go out for lunch and there’s vending machines to top it all off.

  A 'LITTLE' VACATION

            It was a cold day in mid-winter of 2003. Winter break was just around the corner. Me and a group of friends sat around a table discussing our plans for the next when one friend exclaimed “hey guess what, I’m going to Florida over the break!” everyone got so jealous and started shouted at one. “Bring me back a bracelet!” “Bring me a t-shirt please.” One announced. I was starting to wish I could get out of this Popsicle of a country and go somewhere fun for the winter break.

            When we got home my dad called me and my siblings upstairs he said he had very big news for us. We all went upstairs and sat on the couch anxious to hear what my father was going to say. “How would you feel if we took a little vacation?” he asked.

            “YES!” we all shrieked. “That’s a great idea!” my mom contributed. I was so excited! This was my first time from being outside of Canada. There I was wishing to go someplace warm and relaxing, then all of a sudden my dad says we’re going on a vacation! It was like he read my mind or something.

            It became silent in the room as my brother said “daddy but where are we going?!” “We are going to PAKISTAN, my home country where I grew up.” Everyone was excited to go; we had heard many stories about my parent’s childhood in Pakistan. Right then we all ran downstairs to pack.

            No one knew what to pack because they have never been to Pakistan before. “Pakistan is very far away from Canada so pack everything you need as if you where never coming back here.” My mom said. We all couldn’t wait to go and now tell our friends where we were going for winter break!

NEVER BE TOO SCARED SOMETHING GOOD MIGHT COME UP!

            Students, teachers and parents were buzzing around Blue Willow Public School at 8:25a.m on September 3^rd, 2000. It was my first day of school and I had already made a new friends. It was a perfect autumn day. The sun was shining, leaves where changing color and it felt like absolutely nothing could go wrong. That is until I stepped through those BIG BLUE DOORS!
               
            My parents were leaving me all alone in this unfamiliar place with no one but my older siblings. My eldest sibling, Arfa escorted me to the kindergarten hallway. Where I met Mrs. Summerville the librarian, and let me tell u one this we did NOT get off to a good start. I liked Mrs. Summerville when I saw her. She was a chubby woman with white hair and rosy cheeks. She kind of looked like Mrs. Claus.
               
             A billion emotions where running through my mind at that time. Just as my sister left me, Mrs. Summerville picked me up, and I lost it! Tears streamed down my face and my cries could be heard from outer space! I kicked my feet wildly with the thought that if Mrs. Summerville let me go I would run all the way home. But that poor old lady kept hold of me until Mrs. Leechman the principle came running towards me and tried to calm me down. Mrs. Leechman looked like a clown to me and I was so afraid of clown that I pulled at her curly red hair.
               
            It took a few hours and all of my siblings to calm me down, but that day I discovered how much fun kindergarten really was. When the bell rang for home time my parents came to pick me up. My mom asked me “how was your first day sweaty?” “Great!” I said, “I can’t wait until tomorrow!” I heard my new friend say “bye Zanib!” and as I turned around to reply I saw Mrs. Summerville rubbing her knees and Mrs. Leechman rubbing her head!

I Wonder what I'll Be!!!???

CONFUSION!

           I wonder what I’ll be when I grow up. Maybe a teacher, a doctor, an architecture, I could be ANYTHING? All adolescence wonders what they will become and what they will do in their life when they are an adult, and now I’m starting to experience the same thing!

          Being a doctor would be a lot of work. You would have to have a lot of responsibility for this job.  Even though I would LOVE to be a doctor, when it comes to all the work, it gets really difficult at times. To be a doctor I will have to stay in school for 5 or 8 years and by then I would be about 23 or 24 years old. The courses are also hard like physics, science, biology, English, math, chemistry and biochemistry. All of these courses will help me become a doctor, but how about all the other things I could be?

                                              THIS IS CONFUSING!

          Being a teacher would mean taking care of kids, not only that but I would have to know every subject perfectly in school so I can teach the children. Math, science, geography, history, literature, reading and organizing, I would have to be good at all these tasks then a teacher would be the perfect choice for me. I love kids and I love working with them, once I helped out the kindergartens and it was really fun, however the teacher had a lot of assignment and work to do for all her classes. It would take about 4 years or more for me to become a doctor, which is a long period of time. Everything that I learn throughout school would help me become a teacher, but how about all the other things i could be

                                     THIS IS REALLY CONFUSING!

          Being an architecture I would have to know how to draw very well otherwise there would be no point to become an architecture. Also the subjects I would need to take in school would be English, humanities subjects, mathematics, including geometry, trigonometry, algebra, and pre-calculus, physics, computer and business. The Art courses I would have to take to become an architecture would be drawing, painting, sculpture, or photography. Most people think that drawing is all you need to become an architecture, which is exactly what I thought when I first thought about being one. This job is about making attractive scenery around the world. This would all help me become an architecture, but how about all the other things I could be?                                                                                         

    THIS IS REALLY, REALLY CONFUSING!

          After thinking about what to be; there are many choices to decide from, not only these 3 main jobs but many more. I’d better choose nw or else I am going to be stuck in life.
